Straight Talk Tour 2017

What is Straight Talk?

It’s an investment in your business!  Information, clarification, and honest answers from the viewpoint that is important to you. No topic is off limits.  You’ll also earn 1.5 hours of training as you learn about issues that help you be better prepared to manage your program.  Scroll down to learn about NCLCCA and Who We Are.

Is it REALLY that helpful?

Here are a few things we introduced LAST YEAR, in the summer of 2016.   They have either come down the line already or will be soon.  If you attended a 2016 Straight Talk, you would have known something about these things and could have been more prepared:

  • We introduced the Health and Safety training rules (medication administration, shaken baby syndrome, abusive head trauma, etc.)
  • We introduced the WORKS online system that holds education data
  • We introduced "Blended rates" for school age children in subsidy (which has been modified in a good way since it was first introduced)
  • We told you about the new NCFAST policies for 15 paid days off (vacation, holidays, staff development) in addition to inclement weather days off in a new policy

Why Attend in 2017?

  • New Center Rules are on the verge of being effective.  What does this mean for you?  Let us explain the changes.
  • The NC General Assembly has finalized the budget and you may be entitled to higher market rates.  Let us help you be sure you don't miss the deadline to receive the higher rates.
  • We have new DCDEE leadership and NCLCCA can share what we’ve learned about the new administration's goals for the Division.
  • NCFAST is partially implemented and NCLCCA is a leader when it comes to asking tough questions and speaking out to ensure accurate and timely payments for providers.  Let us give you some tips!
  • Sometimes it's just a relief to hear that there are others out there facing the same challenges!
  • You'll get some great freebies, plus handouts and information!
  • One piece of information that helps you be prepared for a rule change will make it worth your $15 investment!

Who is NCLCCA?

We are the NC Licensed Child Care Association and we are the only organization in the state whose primary purpose is to support child care providers. We are YOUR voice in front of the state legislature, the Child Care Commission and DCDEE. We read emails, attend meetings in Raleigh, serve on focus groups and advisory committees, make phone calls to get clarifications, and more. THEN we share the relevant parts with our members so you know what’s coming down the line that might affect your business.

We are made up of people like you. We work with children, staff and families every day. We bring providers together to share ideas and learn from each other.
