Legislative updates are related to state or federal legislation. This may include laws or anything that flows through the NC General Assembly or the US Congress, such as:
- NC Child Care Coalition
- Legislative Task Force on Consolidation (CTF)

Regulatory updates involve an agency that oversees child care programs, and is a long list,. Some of the agencies that fall under Regulatory are:
- DCD
- Child Care Commission
- Subsidy
